Henry G. Carmona, 97, West Lafayette, Indiana, formerly of Michigan City, IN passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 5:22 p.m. in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

He was born May 23, 1913 in Mexico City, Mexico to the late Gonzalo and Maria (Gutierrez) Carmona. On October 9, 1947 in South Bend, IN he married Martha Barrios who preceded him in death on April 21, 1992.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Anita (Warren) Foltz of West Lafayette, IN, and Linda (Michael) Carmona-Bresnan of Wellington, FL; Son, Victor (Mary Jo) Carmona of Columbus, OH; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lydia Foster.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II having served with the 3rd Army, 2nd Calvary. He retired as a Chef from Maxine and Heinies. He also worked at the Spalding Hotel, Trail-Inn, and Willard’s Seafood.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, life member of V.F.W. 2536, and an avid Chicago White Sox fan.

The V.F.W. 2536 will conduct a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel.

    Henry will be missed by all in the Association. He was the oldest member and attended the reunion in Elizabethtown Ky in May. Toujours Pret Henry, may you rest in peace in Fiddler’d Green.
