ANP Receives Local Help with Road Repair in Deh Chopan

ZABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan National Police officers and Soldiers from 1st Platoon, Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment from Hohenfels, Germany (attached to 2SCR), recently took time from their patrols to help the villagers in the Deh Chopan District by repairing the road to the local bazaar.

While on patrol, the ANP and “Red Tank” soldiers discovered that all roads and bridges west of the bazaar had been washed out and made impassible by recent rain storms. First Platoon recognized that this road represented the only route to cross the river and travel west from the bazaar. Soldiers of Delta Company assessed the situation and immediately began the necessary repairs.

Dragoons Help Afghan Air Force

ZABUL – After some intensive training in air mobility operations from their Air Force counterparts, Dragoons from FIRES Squadron of the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment had the chance to show what they had learned Thursday, Aug. 26 during a joint air drop exercise with the Afghan National Air Force.

The purpose of the operation was to establish a landing strip and drop zone near Qalat that would allow supplies and equipment to be flown into the area to support the troops on the ground. The permanent strip will also provide for easier troop movement into and out of theater.

ZABUL – During a recent visit to Forward Operating Base Lagman Lieutenant General David Rodriguez, Commander of , International Security Assistance Force Joint Command and Deputy Commander of the United States Forces Afghanistan, honored two women from the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment for very different reasons. One was honored for her outstanding job performance and the other was congratulated in achieving a much more personal victory.
