Fire at will: Teams gather around and prepare to engage the enemy during the Call of Duty XBOX tournament held Thursday night, Jan. 12 at the new Warrior Zone on Rose Barracks.

VILSECK, Germany – Troopers from FIRES Squadron, 2d Cavalry Regiment celebrated the grand opening of the Warrior Zone Thursday, Jan. 12 on Rose Barracks with a Call of Duty XBOX tournament. The Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers FIRES Squadron representative, Spc. Ryan Landry, organized the competition.

“I wanted to create an event that Soldiers were inspired to have at the facility,” Landry said. “I asked my BOSS reps and they said their Soldiers wanted a Call of Duty tournament.”

“I told them get me the people and I will get you the facility and the equipment,” he said.

Working with Morale Welfare and Recreation officials, Landry and his partners were able to procure 10 televisions, 10 XBOX gaming consoles as well as use of the relocated Warrior Zone, which reopened at its new location in the Langenbruck Center. The tournament, held in conjunction with the grand re-opening of the new hangout, drew 17, five-player teams.

The five man squads played until the wee hours of the morning with team Chocolate Thunder and the Four Lightening Bolts from Pale Horse Troop emerging as the ultimate champions.
